About the dish

The byword for a picnic lunchbox. Gimbap is rice and various fillings rolled in gim — easy to carry and eat, which made it the standard lunchbox for outings and picnics. Each colorful roll holds care and fond memories.

Key ingredient

Gim / laver (gim) — rich in protein and vitamins A and B, earning the name vegetable of the sea; taurine is traditionally believed to help maintain healthy cholesterol levels and relieves fatigue; dietary fiber aids gut health. In season winter; mainly from Wando and Seocheon.

Ingredients

Main: rice, gim, pickled radish, carrot, spinach, egg, braised burdock, crab stick, cucumber · Seasoning: salt, sesame oil, sesame

Simple recipe

  1. Season the rice with salt and sesame oil.
  2. Prepare spinach, carrot, pickled radish, egg and burdock.
  3. Spread rice on the gim and lay the fillings.
  4. Roll up firmly.
  5. Brush with sesame oil and slice into bite-size pieces.
