Cockle feast set, Beolgyo's pride

About the dish

A Namdo spread set with Beolgyo cockles. Kkomak jeongsik is a full table of cockle dishes — boiled cockles, seasoned cockles, cockle pancakes and more. In Beolgyo, the home of the cockle, it is the local set meal for enjoying seasonal cockles in many ways.

Key ingredient

Cockle (kkomak) — well balanced in nutrients, aiding the growth of children; taurine relieves hangovers and regenerates liver cells for liver health; helps with cholesterol. In season November; mainly along the southwest coast; types include blood cockle, ark shell and granular ark.

Ingredients

Main: cockles, radish, onion, water dropwort, rice · Seasoning: chili powder, soy sauce, minced garlic, sesame oil

Simple recipe

  1. Purge the cockles, boil them, and spoon over seasoned soy sauce.
  2. Prepare seasoned cockles and cockle pancakes.
  3. Set out the various side dishes.
  4. Plate with rice.
  5. Serve as a Beolgyo-style spread.
