About the dish

A spring green said to block the sea wind. Bangpung means blocking the wind; said to control wind disorders, it was used as a medicinal herb. Blanched and seasoned, bangpung-namul is fragrant and gently bitter, a spring delicacy.

Key ingredient

Glehnia greens (bangpung) — known to help expel fine dust and heavy metals and to support; the root is effective for colds, headache, sweating and phlegm; good for muscle pain and eases nervous stress. In season May; mainly from Yeosu.

Main: glehnia greens, perilla oil · Seasoning: doenjang or soup soy sauce, minced garlic, sesame

Simple recipe

  1. Blanch and rinse the glehnia greens.
  2. Squeeze out the water.
  3. Season with doenjang or soup soy sauce and perilla oil.
  4. Toss lightly to keep the aroma.
  5. Sprinkle with sesame and serve as a spring green.
