Gukmul Tteokbokki

국물떡볶이
Guk-mul Tteok-bok-ki

Soupy spicy rice cakes

About the dish

Gukmul-tteokbokki is tteokbokki made with the sauce left loose and plentiful, so the rice cakes and fish cake come soaked through. The fun of dunking rice or noodles into the sweet-spicy broth sealed its place as a snack-bar favorite.

Key ingredient

Rice (ssal) — Korea's staple grain and main energy source; easy to digest with B vitamins for a balanced meal. Autumn harvest, mainly from Icheon & Yeoju.

Ingredients

Main: garaetteok (rice-cake sticks), fish cake, scallion, cabbage, boiled egg, ramyeon noodles · Seasoning: gochujang, gochugaru, sugar, soy sauce, anchovy broth

Simple recipe

  1. Soak the rice cakes in water and cut the fish cake and scallion.
  2. Dissolve the gochujang, gochugaru and sugar seasoning into the anchovy broth.
  3. Add the rice cakes and fish cake and boil.
  4. When the broth has cooked down a little, add the scallion.
  5. Serve with boiled eggs alongside.
